As the end of the year is fast approaching and the last senior staff meeting of 2017 is in a matter of days, I just wanted to take this opportunity to issue my end of year report to you all.

As CEO of Earth’s Elite, I oversee the general day to day running of the community as a whole, I also control the direction of EE, helped by Scott and Shoot.

Before I get into what I would like to see from EE next year, let’s take a look back at this year.
In January I introduced, by CEO Directive, a new Staff Policy, this policy governs how the EE staff will work, it is extremely harsh on those who do not do their jobs to a level I have dictated.
I did this because I wasn’t happy with the 2016 performance, I wanted better for you all.  Our staff are supposed to ensure you all as members get to come here and have fun, we deal with the back end day to day boring stuff to ensure there is always something fun on offer for you all to do, this policy ensured this was happening along with ensuring the continued growth of the community.

Over the course of 2017 we have hit most of our targets, we are still lacking, massively, on activity and this will be resolved in Q1 of 2018.  The community growth was much better than last year 27 new members at the time of writing this (with a loss of 1), 2016 saw only 6 new members over the course of the entire year.

I feel, activity and growth are closely linked, the more active we are as a community the bigger and better we will become, this is why 2018 we will be focusing closely on activity.

Overall, 2017 has been a rather good year for EE, but I know we can do better, I myself over the last 4 or so months have dropped the ball, having just started a new job IRL, my time has become more limited, I am still working out new schedules etc to work around this and continue to fulfill my CEO responsibilities.  I promise that 2018 will be an even better year for the community.

Before I go on and discuss what I would like to see from EE next year, I would just like to address one merger that occured during this year.  We merged with a Discord server a few months ago, this has now become our primary discord server and the old one is now an archive and locked to our Seniors only.  While I dislike Discord, I must admit that it is a good communication tool, it would be great to see more members using the service over the next few months into 2018.

Now, looking forward to next year, I cannot say that everything I mention here will definatley happen, mainly because I will be giving the senior staff the option to choose, as we haven’t had our final meeting for this year yet, none of this has been mentioned to the senior staff yet, which is why I cannot say if it will or will not happen,  I can simply tell you that I will be fighting for these things to happen.

Firstly, I want to address the activity of EE, this will be one of my primary concerns in Q1 of 2018, I want to see the use of our services sky rocket, we have great tools such as the forums, LaunchPad, COMM’s, and TS,  that’s just naming a few of them.  I want to see members and staff using these things more, the LaunchPad for example is a very easy thing to use, yes I understand that at first it’s not so easy, you have to add each game you want to play, but this is a one time thing, once it’s on there it’s on there for you to play, I will also be pushing out an update in the next few days for the LaunchPad that will be removing the requirement of actually visiting the LaunchPad page on our site or the opening the program, instead you’ll be able to launch a game, say from Steam, and the LaunchPad system will automatically detect it and show to the world that you are playing a game.

Things like the forums are harder to get people to use, this will be something I want the staff to focus on mostly, opening dicussions, keeping things going, getting people invovled, the same goes for TS.

In terms of events, I want to change how our events work, I wanted to get the community moving, so for 2017 I reintroduced the requirement of 4 events a month along with a showcase event, this has failed to yeild the results I hoped for, most if not all the events see a turn out of 1 or 2 people, that number includes the event host themselves.  As a gaming community, those numbers, in my opinion, are appaling.  If I was a guest looking in, potentially looking to join, I wouldn’t, what would be the point, join a community where nothing is happening.

I have been thinking of ways to combat low activity, a while ago I was told there was a lack of incentive, I will be honest, I laughed at this.  As a gaming community, surely all the incentive someone would need to join a gaming event would be to have fun, to play a game with fellow like minded individuals?  Maybe I’m wrong, maybe monetary rewards should be offered for all 192 regular division events a year, but I can safely say that Earth’s Elite and myself personally would not fund them.
So, what do I want to do to combat it?  What I plan to do is abolish the requirement of a showcase event, these clearly do not work anyway, I also want to abolish the need for 4 events a month.  I also want to change up the way events work.  Instead of events divisions will host activities, these I want to be the new regular events, for example, the Hide & Seek sandbox activity, a weekly get together to play prop hunt on GMOD, but an event would be a one off special activity, for example a community 24 hour event or a Minecraft buildathon.

To further combat activity, I do want to add a little monetary incentive (I know,I just mentioned this), from January 1st 2018, I want the EE LaunchPad to track yearly usage during activities and events, the member who has the highest community interation time, will win a small reward.  AKA, attend more events, have more of a chance of winning something.

Along with the above, I also want to introduce some new things for members to do, one big one will be the Los Santos Life server we are developing (I know, still.  I’m pretty much a one man team over here), this will be a 24/7 server that will only survive with high levels of activity, if we work hard in Q1 of 2018, by Q2 maybe Q3, I’m sure the rewards will be worth it.

For community growth, I want to look into better advertising for the community, but this will come in Q2 of 2018, after we have addressed the activity issues.  So more on this will be revealed closer to the time once details have been confirmed.

One more things I wish to change in 2018, is staff accountability, I want the EE staff to be held more accountabe to the members, this includes the Senior Staff.  Now, we don’t want to go the route of TLO where our members can vote staff out, but I do want to give power to our members to call for a public internal investigation, if anyone feels a member of staff, including the CEO, is under performing.  The reason I don’t want to give the power of removal to the members is for this one reason, quite often, some projects that our staff are working on are behind the scenes, something that is not publically visible, take my role of Technical Director as an example, when I’m busy working on a new EE website update, you very rarely see any progress from me, that’s why an internal, public, investigation will yeild better results, if it’s found that yeah, actually, this member of staff hasn’t been performing their duties, then they will be removed, but as a result of the investigation, but if, like me, they’ve been working the background, it’ll publically show that, actually, they are still doing their job, they just don’t have anything to show to the public right now.

I’m sure there are other things here that I want to implement/change in 2018 that I just can’t remember right now, they will be revealed as and when, but, Earth’s Elite should work for you, so if you have any ideas, any at all, then please do contact us.  I mention this all the time and very rarely get any feedback, this is massive hinderance to Earth’s Elite’s future, as Senior Staff we have to do things that will work for you, so that you guys continue to use our services, but if we’re not getting feedback from you about what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong, we wont be able to improve and make things even better for you, so please please please, comment on this topic, let us know what you think we’re doing wrong AND right.

If by the end of Q1 we haven’t been able to improve activity, we may have to think about imposing activity restricitions on EE membership, I don’t want to do this, because it makes people have to be active in events, but I also wont let this community die.  Next year we will be celebrating 4 years of operations, with only 58 members, we are WAY below where we should be at this time, so please, help us help you have a better experience in EE next year.  It will be a team effort and we cannot do this without your help.

As CEO I have dedicated a massive amount of my own time to trying to make this community work, I’m now having to ask, please help me, it is the only way.

Thank you for taking the time to read this report, I hope to see you in events of the next few weeks as we head towards the end of 2017.  We’ve got some great end of year events coming up, the Autumn 24 hour event, Celebration weekend, Christmas events, and the infamous end of year party where I tend to make a massive fool of myself, but if we don’t speak before hand, I hope you and your families have a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Autumn 2017 / Earth's Elite Autumn 2017 24 Hour Event
« on: November 02, 2017, 02:30:45 am »
The time is almost upon us!

EE is beginning to enter it's busiest time of year, one of the biggest, most planned, and most anticipated events is drawing nearer and nearer.  The EE Autumn 24 Hour Event.  This year the 24 hour event will be on the 10th of November 2017, we'll be starting at 7PM Community Time (GMT) and will be ending 24 hours later.

As usual, this event will be streamed live over on Twitch.  Twitch.tv/callum603.  You can also watch live, as well as submit quotes etc, over on our 24 hour events dashboard https://earthelite.co.uk/24h.

Closer to the time, the quotes threads, hours, etc will all be added to this board.

As usual, members and stream viewers can give a senior member of staff an order (note, you cannot order them to give you their position, or rank increase, etc) with every £5 you donate to EE.

Senior Staff will also have certain challenges to do as milestones for donation goals.  As the Autumn event occurs after this years donation campaign has ended, we'll be adding any donations to next years goal of £122.  So for the milestones we'll cut that goal in half for this event, the 100% milestone will be for £61.

Milestone 25% - £15.25
Milestone 50% - £30.50
Milestone 75% - £45.75
Milestone 100% - £61

Myself and the Senior Staff will post below their milestones, we have the right to exclude a milestone if we so wish to do so.

Promotion Points will also be awarded for attendance to the 24 hour event.

Every 1 Hour = 10 Promotion Points
6 Consecutive Hours = X2 Multiplier
Second 6 Consecutive Hours = X3 Multiplier
Third 6 Consecutive Hours = X4 Multiplier
Fourth 6 Consecutive Hours = X5 Multiplier
Full 24 Hours = X12 Multiplier

For the full 24 hours, you could get 147600 Promotion Points!

Community Announcements / Member of The Year 2017 - Nominations
« on: September 11, 2017, 04:41:32 pm »
It's very nearly that time of year again.  The Earth's Elite Senior Staff are less than 2 months away from sitting down and confirming who will hold the coveted title of MoY 2017.

Following on from last year, I am opening the nominations to the general membership of Earth's Elite.  The member of the year should be a member who has demonstrated their passion for Earth's Elite over the last 12 months.  A member who has gone out of their way to help others, make this a fun and engaging community, someone who has stood out above all else.

As per the requirements of the MoY award, the presiding CEO of Earth's Elite can neither be nominated nor receive the award, it is urged not to pick a member of the Senior Staff also, however, they are eligible to receive the award.

This year, the MoY will receive bigger and better rewards.  Along with the coveted title and active TS3 tag, the MoY will receive a signed letter from the office of the CEO congratulating them along with a gift card for a retailer of their choice valued at £10 or equivalent currency, they may trade the gift card in for a digital item such as a game for the same or less value.

The MoY will be announced during the November P&A Ceremony on the 21st of November.

All nominations should be submitted directly to me either via PM or email.

Community Announcements / We Wield The Ban Crowbar For The First Time
« on: September 07, 2017, 02:03:05 am »
Despite the silly title, this topic is regarding a serious matter.  For the first time in Earth's Elite history, the senior staff are revoking a global community permanent ban.

I cannot go into too much detail, as most of it is still classified.  Just over 3 years ago, Earth's Elite was forced to issue it's first global community permanent ban.  There are currently only two of these in affect.

The ban was essentially issued for breaching a position of trust, this was confirmed, or so we thought, by information provided to us during an internal investigation.

3 years on, new information has come to light that has shown that our decision was based on false information provided to us at the time, therefore, the Senior Staff have unanimously decided to overturn the ruling of the 2014 Senior Staff.

As Chief Executive Officer of Earth's Elite and representative of the Earth's Elite Senior Staff, authorised by a unanimous vote of the Senior Staff - CEO Callum Jackson, COO Scott Archer, & CM Shoot - I hereby revoke the global permanent ban of Gavin Newton.  This ban was issued as a direct result of false information being submitted to the senior staff in 2014 by a staff officer of the Earth's Elite community.  On behalf of myself and the entire Senior Staff, both today and from 2014, I sincerely apologise for this incorrect ruling.  Should you see this message in the future, I extend an invitation to rejoin the community, if you wish to do so, with all previous achievements withstanding and this unjust action expunged from your record.

Unfortunately, we cannot end this topic here.  The staff officer in question has since left Earth's Elite's active staff rosters and is no longer an active member, however, this member allowed another Earth's Elite member to take the punishment he himself should have received, he not only breached a position of trust as a staff officer, he also lied to the senior staff to protect himself, in doing so, he directly affected the decision made by the Senior Staff in 2014.  These actions are unforgivable and come with a severe punishment.

As Chief Executive Officer of Earth's Elite and representative of the Earth's Elite Senior Staff, authorised by a unanimous vote of the Senior Staff - CEO Callum Jackson, COO Scott Archer, CM Shoot - I hereby issue John Adams with a Global Community Permanent Ban.  You will be permanently banned from all services Earth's Elite offers, present and future.  While you have the ability to appeal this decision, I would strongly suggest you only use your one and only chance to appeal if you have extremely compelling evidence to issue to the Senior Staff that proves you are in fact innocent in this.  Effective as of 06/09/2017 @ 17:00 Community Time, John Adams has been permanently banned from Earth's Elite.

Once again, my sincerest apologise to Gavin Newton.

Director's Office / Earth's Elite's Los Santos Life - Update
« on: August 26, 2017, 06:07:28 pm »
I just wanted to post a quick update regarding the Los Santos Life server that EE is setting up.

I don't think I've referred to it by it's name that much, so just for clarification, that is what we are called the EE FiveM server.

Since I last mentioned it here quite a bit has changed.  The server software that we use has been updated, this has added a number of extra bugs into the server that we are developing, I am currently working to try and resolve these.  Due to how severe some of the bugs are, some of the scripts would require a full rewrite to work, or pretty much a full rewrite, thankfully this is only affecting a couple of the scripts that we have running, unfortunatley one of the ones that is affected is one of the scripts that is the backbone for most of the other ones, so my priority right now is to get that updated and working.

Once I have everything up and running again I will be releasing the current version of the server to the public, I would like to stress now, this is a very much unfinished build of the server that we have planned, but it will have the basic features, I also feel that releasing it sooner rather than later is the best option here, I've made you all wait long enough for the server as it is.

I will continue to work on feature updates, which I will release as and when they are ready after the initial release of the server, this shouldn't affect your gameplay, other than adding extra cool and exciting feautes to the server for you to use and live out your virtual life.

I am aiming to have the Pre-Alpha (if you like) build of the server publically available within the next 4 weeks.  This is all dependant on real life and how much time I can dedicate to the development of the server, but hopefully by the last week of September we will have the Los Santos Life RP server up and running, albeit lacking a few features that will stilll be in development.

I will require a few beta testers before I am able to release the server though, just to make sure the server is actually functional before I go ahead and release it, so if you would like to help me test the server, once I have something to test, please let me know.  In order to volunteer, please only do so if you think you'll be available during a Sunday afternoon for 30-60 minutes of server testing next month.

If you have any suggestions, questions, or features you'd like me to add, just post below or contact me directly.

Star Trek: Temporal Leap / Season Two - Time & Day
« on: August 12, 2017, 06:37:44 pm »
As it's getting closer to Season Two of TL, we should probably open this discussion about the day and time that this SRP will return on.  Last season we got an extremely poor turn out, but we put that down to the time and day that we chose for the SRP.

The purpose of this topic is to organise a better time and day that suits the majority of us and will allow season two to be even better than season one.

If you are free any time, then you don't need to post here, but if, like myself, you have limited availabllity, then we need to discuss when we can do this.

I'm going to start the discussion with suggesting Sundays @ 9PM Community Time.

I will leave this thread open for a couple of weeks, then myself and Scott will choose a time and day that the majority have agreed on, so long as we can both attend too.

Star Trek: New Ground / Season One | Episode Three | Dilemma
« on: July 29, 2017, 06:25:17 pm »
Season One | Episode Three | Dilemma

                                                                        Episode Director: StringTheorist

                                                               Air Date: Sunday 30th @ 8PM BST / 3PM EST

It has been several days since the Enterprise F was stranded by their first test of Project SABER. With a trip of several months ahead of the crew to return to friendly space, the crew has begun to explore and map the region during the return trip. The science department has had a field day with the opportunity to be the first-ever explorers to make concrete and detailed observations of the region. However, the crew is yet to have a run-in with any of the local powers of the area. So far.

As this is a joint SRP between TLO and EE, we'll be alternating between the TLO and EE RPG-X server each week. This week the episode is on the TLO server.

Division Announcements / Earth's Elite & RPG-X
« on: July 19, 2017, 05:03:33 pm »
I just wanted to open this poll to gauge the interest in RPG-X here within Earth's Elite.

During Temporal Leap we only got 3 participants, granted this was blamed on the timeslot, and for season 2 this will change, but Echo's was tried twice in the last year, both times it was cancelled due to lack of attendance after the first episode, though this could be my story line of course.

If you legitimately would participate in an EE RPG-X event, then please vote for the YAY option, otherwise, if for any reason you wouldn't attend an RPG-X event, please choose NAY.

I am hoping to gauge the response from the RPG-X players here in EE, if you vote NAY, please could you reply here explaining why, this though is not a requirement.

Thank you, the poll will remain open for 1 week.

I'm sure most of you already know, three weeks ago EE ran the Big Community Challenge sign-ups, 4 members signed up to this challenge, making this years Big Community Challenge more successful in terms of contestants than last year.  With more contestants it allowed me to host bigger and better events, such as challenge one which was a minecraft UHC.

Unfortunately, come challenge one, only one contestants could be bothered to turn up, everyone else who had signed up and agreed the time and day was fine, had other things they had to do at the time, Shoot was crowned the winner of challenge one by default.  For reference, I had spend roughly 4 hours setting up a world for the challenge, I had picked out a perfect world seed, I had worked out the timings and exactly how the UHC would be played based on a number of scenarious that would likely happen during the challenge.  I was rather annoyed that no contestant other than Shoot turned up, but these things happen.

Challenge two, was just a repeat of challenge one, the GMod challenge originally planned didn't go ahead due to on the night technical difficulties, so the backup challenge was to be challenge two, unfortuantely, no other contestant but Shoot turned up, so he was once again crowned the winner by default.

As CEO of Earth's Elite and the game master of the Big Community Challenges, I would just like to take a moment to express how unhappy and annoyed I am at the members who agreed to turn up, but didn't, most of you are staff of Earth's Elite, knowing that these events are streamed live to the world, you are not representing the EE community in very good way, I also ask that you take a moment to reply to your fellow contestant, Shoot, here - https://earthelite.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,912.msg3070.html#new.  I will leave the topic unlocked for a while so you can do so.  I understand that some of you may not be available at the time of the event, that's why you don't sign up to it, the event has a set time that you are expected to attend and you all knew this going into the event.  I would like to re-ask Shoot's question, why sign up to the event if you were not going to attend?

Normally, in this situation I would not award anything to anyone, however, as a thank you to Shoot for actually turning up, I crown Shoot the winner of the Earth's Elite Big Community Challenge 2017 Singles, you will receive the grand prize of 100,000 Promotion Points along with the runner up and third place prizes, bringing your winnings to 175,000 Promotion Points.  As a personal thank you for turning up, I also award you the grand prize from the Earth's Elite Big Community Challenge 2017 Teams, so a further 100,000 Promotion Points.  Bringing your total winnings to 275,000 Promotion Points.  You are also awarded all Singles prizes on the Community Discord Server we were partnered with for this challenge.

Thank You & Congratulations Shoot!

The Big Community Challenge will be back in January 2018 for the teams season two edition.  Depending on the outcome of the teams edition, we may bring back the singles version in July of 2018.
