Announcements / VOIP Update
« on: June 20, 2019, 04:44:27 am »
We have just released a major update for the Los Santos Life Server.

In order to play on the server you will now REQUIRE TS3 and the following plugin - https://www.earthelite.co.uk/downloads/RP/lslife_voip.ts3_plugin

When connecting to the server you will need to be in the TS3 Channel 'Server VOIP Connect'.  (Server admins you MUST have your client on PTT mode).  Once connected to the FiveM server you will be moved to the 'Server VOIP' channel.

Police & EMT, you no longer require your whisper lists, when on duty you can press LEFT SHIFT + LEFT ALT and choose radio channels through there.  You should select the EMS/LEO Shared channel, then select your departments channel.  Pressing LEFT SHIFT + F1 after that will switch between to the two channels.  To broadcast on the radio channel press CAPSLOCK, to talk in-game press whatever your TS3 PTT key is.

To change your voice range the key has remained unchanged, it is F11.

This update has been implemented to improve voice quality and improve radio functionality.  In the future updates civilian radio channels will be made available for everyone to use, so this change has opened up a lot of options for us, we will even be able to tie phone calls into this in the future.

Any issues please contact me directly.

April 2019 / 2019 Donations
« on: March 26, 2019, 02:41:16 pm »
As it is April, we are looking to raise enough money to keep Earth's Elite running for another year.

We normally do this by asking for half of £122 in November and then the remainder in April, to try and split it up.  Last year in November we raised 50% of our goal leaving £30.48 to be added to this years goal.

Unlike previous years I will be changing up our donations slightly, previous years we have tried to raise the full £122 then I/Senior Staff would attempt to cover the shortfall, this year and moving forward I intend to cut the goal in half and cover 50% myself outright, that takes our overall goal to £61 a year to raise.

We will still divide this between the two events, as we raised £30.52 during the November stream that will mean we are setting the April 100% goal at £30.48

By donating to EE you receive VIP status and if you donate during the 24 hour event, you can give a member of staff an order (see the 24 hour event thread for details on this).

Those who donate will be entered into a raffle to win a prize.  If you have anything you'd be willing to put into this raffle, please PM me.  I will update this thread closer to the event with the full list of prizes on offer.

Thank you in advance to anyone who donates or is considering donating.

April 2019 / #EE24H April 2019
« on: March 26, 2019, 02:34:41 pm »
It's almost that time of year again, Earth's Elite's 5th annual Spring 24 hour event.

As usual, the event will start at 7PM Community Time on Friday 5th April and end 7PM Community Time the next day, the event will be streamed live on Twitch.

Milestones and orders, these will of course be making a return this year.  Senior Staff (and general EE Staff if they wish to do so) will create milestones for 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of our donation goal, as we hit each goal we'll 'celebrate' by carrying out our milestone task.  Note, if you cannot perform your milestone on stream, it should be completed within 2 weeks of the events conclusion.

Milestone percent goals are as follows: 25% - £7.62, 50% - £15.24, 75% - £22.86, 100% - £30.48.

You can also submit orders to the senior and general staff of Earth's Elite with any donation of £5+.

The promotion points systems has been replaced this year and instead you can earn EECoin.

Every 1 Hour = 10 EECoin
First 6 consecutive Hours = X2 Multiplier
Second 6 Consecutive Hours = X3 Multiplier
Third 6 Consecutive Hours = X4 Multiplier
Fourth 6 Consecutive Hours = X5 Multiplier

If you last the full 24 hours we'll award you a special X12 Multiplier on top of the above multipliers, you could potentially receive 86,400 EECoin.  Senior Staff are eligible to receive these EECoins.

The event schedule can be found here - https://earthelite.co.uk/info_content.php?id=00044

Developers Corner / [04/03/2019] Server Update
« on: March 04, 2019, 03:32:16 am »
A minor server update has been pushed to our server.

We have added two new items, the first is a lockpick and the second is a GPS.

The GPS is available from 24/7's and LTD Gas, the lockpick is available from our new black market store, located next to the black market weapons dealer.

The drill has been removed from main stores and moved the to the black market too.

The lockpicks have a chance of failure, so it's not guaranteed to work every time to steal a car and they are bit pricey.

The GPS removes the mini map from the bottom left of the screen, you have to purchase a GPS and have it in your inventory to see the mini map now.

Any issues etc please post a bug report.

Los Santos Life / EMS/Police Applications
« on: February 23, 2019, 02:03:44 am »
If you are wanting to join the EMS or Police force then you need to go through the respective departments training program.

For both departments the training program will consist of out of game training and in-game training covering topics like how to use the out of game tools provided to you right down to how to carry out your duties.

POLICE FORCE
In order to join the police force you will need to contact the LSPD Commander, currently that's Scott Archer.  For the time being you can do this by sending him a PM on the forums, you should copy and paste this form (and fill it in of course):

Code: [Select]
Character Name:
Steam Name:
Steam HEX Identifier (If you don't know how to find this then leave this blank, we'll be able to retrieve this for you:
Briefly tell us about yourself:
Why do you want to join the LSPD:
Any previous experience that may be relevant:

Once accepted you will be given the role of Recruit, this gives you limited LSPD privileges, you will not be able to go it alone while a recruit and must be part of a ride along, you also may not carry a lethal weapon unless authorised by an officer on your ride along.

After becoming a recruit you will go through our short training program, this will consist of roughly an hours meeting on our TS, there you will be guided through setting up TS, how to use the LSPD Database (WIP) and how to carry out your duties and maintain RP.  Training is provided by LSPD officers ranked Lieutenant and up, once your training officer is satisfied you will be able to carry out your duties you will be awarded the rank of Officer.  From this point you will be a fully fledged officer of the LSPD and be able to go out on duty solo if you so wish.

EMS
In order to join the EMS you will need to contact the EMS Commander, currently that's Callum Jackson.

Why do you want to join the EMS:
Any previous experience that may be relevant:

After being accepted you will be given the rank of Recruit, this rank will permit you to partner up with one of our 'qualified' EMT's.  Similar to the LSPD department you will be expected to go through a short training program, held on TS, however for this department the training should usually be completed within 30 minutes.  Training will consist of getting setup on TS and a run through of how to perform you duties.  Training is provided by approved EMT's only, once your training provider is satisfied that you will be able to carry out your duties properly, you will be awarded the rank of EMT and will be greenlit to use all EMT vehicles such as the air ambulance.

Any issues or questions please don't hesitate the contact the relevant department commander.

Los Santos Life / Regular RP Nights
« on: February 23, 2019, 01:49:32 am »
The FiveM server has been up for almost a month now and I think it's safe to say that we've got it to a place where we're happy with it.

What this means is we will no longer be developing on the live server, instead any updates will be announced before going live and will be developed on a separate dev server.

Now that we're at this stage, I think it's a great time to get a regular afternoon/evening setup for a few of us to get on together to RP.  Currently, the server is empty most of the time and it's not that great being on an empty server by yourself or to just have a couple of people on, especially if one is a cop and the other is a civ, one is going to be following the other rather than going about their own business confident they'll encounter RP along the way.

I want to open a discussion here to see whats the best day/time for everyone who wants to participate on the FiveM server.

I will start by suggesting Wednesday evenings, say from ~7PM Community Time.

Community Events / Earth's Elite's Big Community Challenge (Teams)
« on: January 06, 2019, 03:48:35 am »
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is almost that time of year again, where we pit two teams against each other and see who will be victorious!

Season 3 of the teams BCC will see a slight change.  Once again we have teamed up with our friends over at The Last Outpost and this year we will be putting EE against TLO to see who will be crowned the winning community.

How will this work?
The basics of the teams variant will remain fairly normal.  The event will run weekly as usual (Fridays at 8PM GMT), one week will be a team leader challenge and the next will be a head to head teams challenge.
The team leader challenge will be held inter-teams to see who will be that weeks team leader, the team leader is tasked with deciding who will be doing the following weeks challenge and if necessary, deciding who will be leaving their team if their team loses.
Head to head team challenges will put the teams representative (if applicable) against the other teams rep, this challenge will decide which team is the winner or loser (note some challenges may put the entire teams against each other).
By the season finale we should be left with only two contestants, one representing EE and one TLO, they will go head to head aided by their former contestants along the way to try and crown their community the winner.

I'm a member of EE and TLO, what happens?
YOU MUST CHOOSE! or we might choose, it depends....
When you sign up you will be asked to declare your memberships, if you are part of both communities we will ask you to pick your preferred team (EE or TLO).  We will strive to assign you to your preferred team, but some team balancing may be required depending on numbers.

Whens the sign up event?
That's another change being introduced, there will be no sign up event, instead, the first live event of this years Teams BCC will be a team leader challenge, you can sign up right now and continue to do so right up until the cut off point (24 hours prior to the first challenge).  So you have until January 31st at 8PM GMT to sign up.  You can sign up here - https://goo.gl/forms/jnciI3SDafhhQYqK2

« on: December 28, 2018, 06:35:35 pm »
We are two days away from our annual 'get as mashed as you can' event.

As always the PG rating of this event is PG-18 (and/or your country of residence legal drinking age).

If you are joining us there will be optional drinking games to participate in.  This years we are doing a bit of a throw back to the very first one we did (where I only remembered what happened because it was streamed).

We will be starting out on GTA Online with some races.  Full rules of the drinking games will be published here on the night and may be subject to change at any point during the live event.

The event kicks off at 9PM Community Time Sunday 30th December.

If you are joining us or playing along by way of the stream, please drink responsibly!

Happy new year to everyone!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening,

As has become customary, this post serves as my official end of year report for 2018.  Earth's Elite has just over 1 month left of full operational status until the Christmas period, which means it's time for me evaluate the year and look towards 2019.  This report is normally made just before or just after the end of year Senior meeting, however we have decided to forgo the meeting this year.

We started 2018 off with a goal of increasing activity and the worthwhile-ness of the community, sadly I don't feel we have managed to achieve that this year.  I recognise that this year has been rather busy for us Seniors IRL, however that has triggered a condition that we set at the start of this year.

As we haven't been able to achieve our targets with how we are currently run, 2019 will see several major changes to Earth's Elite, this has been dubbed the wind down.  Originally this was a plan to wind down the community to a state of minimal to no overhead costs or management, however, I feel this plan has changed slightly over that last few months.

2019 will be EE's wind down year, so no changes will be made until January 2019, full changes will be announced next year once the Seniors have had their January meeting, however, some changes I can reveal now...

When EE first opened 5 years ago, we grew slowly but did manage to build, albeit small, active group of members, however, I feel we tried to expand to quickly and without enough members to help support the expansion, we imploded, so it's time to scale back.

Each server will be reviewed in January, as of this time I don't want to axe any physical servers, so there's a good chance that most of the servers will remain online, but their future will be unknown and support will be dropped to moderating and maintenance only (of course we'll be able to use them for community events).

That leads me nicely on to events, we changed them up a few months ago to division activities and division events, the latter for one off large scale events and the first for weekly frag matches or whatever, but again for these to be successful we needed a larger active member base, something we don't currently have.  So these I plan to switch up even more, keeping weekly activities like community night, but events will be more rare and limited to things like the upcoming 24 hour event.  More info on this will be announced in January once the rest of the Seniors have had a chance to give their input.

Staffing within EE, effective immediately by CEO Directive I am hereby closing all EE staff vacancies, a full staffing restructure will happen within EE next year, I plan to propose a staffing model that will have the Senior Staff -> Administrators -> Moderators.  These members of staff will not be limited to one division (more on divisions later) but will be global throughout EE.

The EE divisions were rearranged slightly during the last Senior Staff meeting, but they will be changed again in January, as I said near the start, we expanded too quickly and now need to scale back, we will be focusing on one or two games only (a 2019 suggestion thread will be opened shortly for anyone who wants to suggest games etc that we should focus on).  As it currently stands I can exclusively reveal that one of the games we will add to the list right out the gate will be GTA:V/FiveM, but details on what exactly that will be won't be released until January.

What we want to achieve next year during the wind down is going to be difficult, it's going to require a lot of dedication on our part and I'm hoping we can build something that you guys, our members, will be willing to help us out with and grow together.

I say this a lot, when I first opened EE I wanted to try and build a small, active, fun, and relaxed community, aimed at giving our members/players the best experience possible, I think there was a time we, maybe for a week or two that we achieved this :P.  I want us next year to try and achieve this.  I've very much had an outlook that more is better, the more events we host the better it must be, what's really happened is we've hosted a lot of watered down events rather than do three or four really good ones, next year I want us to aim for quality rather than quantity, if that means we host an event have 4 people turn up to it but have a blast, then that means that target was achieved.

If you are new to the community and haven't seen anything going on recently, please please please don't give up on us, let's make 2019 our year, let's make something great together that we can all be proud of.

2018 isn't over yet though, no no, coming up this month we've got the legendary #EE24H Autumn edition (details available here - https://earthelite.co.uk/24h/), November 23rd - 24th starting at 7PM GMT.  We also have the mess that is the end of year party or as we tend to call it, The Drunk Stream, coming up on the 30th December.  I'm sure we'll also have a few last minute Christmas-y based activities/events too.  I do hope to see some of you about during this events.  Let's send 2018 out with a bang and welcome in a new year for EE.

One last thing before I sign off this report, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to those who have stuck by EE over the last 5 years, we've had our up (no I didn't for get the S :P ) and our many downs.  I really do appreciate everything you have all done to help out over the years and hope that you will be sticking with us into next year.

If I don't speak to you before...

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Community Announcements / Earth's Elite LaunchPad - Major Update
« on: October 28, 2018, 12:24:27 am »
As this is a major update to the EE LaunchPad I wanted to put a note out here too.

The LaunchPad has been updated to version 3.0.0, this version brings something I have been wanting to add for a while.  When installing the new LP you will be faced with a new install process, this is to configure out new background process.

The background process will collect a full list of the games you have added (a master list of games is due in the next update) to your LaunchPad, it will periodically check to see if you are playing a game from that list, if you happen to be doing so, it will update the website and begin recording your hours, once you have finished playing it will log your hours played.  This service negates the need to open the LP client or come to the website to launch your games, instead you can launch them direct from Steam, Origin, etc.

In order for this to work you will be asked to enter some information while installing the LaunchPad, one of which will be your LP PIN.  In order to generate this you will need to go the client or website version before installing, there will be a button to generate your PIN just above your total in game hours.

You also have a choice to have this background process run with Windows startup or launch only when you want it open. There is a file under the EE folder in your start menu that will allow you to close this background process should you need to do so (along with an option to launch it).  This background process has been named EELP in the current release.

This version also brings a smarter install/update process, while it wont work during this install, updates from version 3.0 will go a lot smoother and there will be no redundant steps.

Any questions or issues please do post them below.
